Lewis joins Mount Vernon Recruiting Center as recruiter

Army Staff Sgt. Stephen Lewis recently joined the U.S. Army Indianapolis Recruiting Battalion's Fairview Heights Company as the newest recruiter for the Mount Vernon Recruiting Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

Lewis comes from the 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment in Fort Lewis, Washington, where he served as a section leader since 2011.

He has also served as a squad leader and battle noncommissioned officer with 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment in Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Lewis' military awards include: one Army Commendation with "V" device, six Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, three Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, five Iraq Campaign Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, two United Nations Medals, the Presidential Unit Commendation Award, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Valorous Unit Award, the Navy Unit Commendation, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Combat Action Badge, the Marksmanship Qualification Badge: Sharpshooter and the Recruiting Badge.

He is a 2002 graduate of Riverdale High School in Fort Myers.
