Smith graduates from basic training

U.S. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jasmine S. Smith graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Smith is the daughter of James Smith, of Folkstown, Ga., and Marlene Knox, of Steubenville, Ohio. She is the granddaughter of Cheryl Mckenzie, of Lehigh Acres, and Victoria Knox, of Steubenville, Ohio.

The airman graduated in 2009 from Steubenville High School in Steubenville, Ohio. She earned a bachelor's degree in 2014 from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa.
