Alethea Ione Lamb-Chalker

Alethea Ione Lamb-Chalker was born October 23, 1921, and in the evening of March 22, 2015, passed from this world as we know it. Robert David Chalker, her husband of 63 years, preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are her parents, Floyd Albert and Helen Edith Gilmore-Lamb and a brother, Byron Albert Lamb. Aletheas sister, Anita Lamb-Backe-Mandarino lives in Florida. Alethea was born and raised in Ravenna, Ohio moving to Lehigh Acres, Florida in July 1967. She leaves behind three (3) children: Robert David Chalker, Jr. (Annie Platt Chalker), Mobile, Alabama; Carolyn (Carrie) Ione Chalker-Smith, Cape Coral, Florida; Paul Albert Chalker, Tice, Florida. Eight grandchildren: Christine I. Chalker-Kohn; Clinton T. Chalker (Teresa Howell Chalker); Charie A. Chalker-Martin; Robert F. Smith, Jr. (Holly Sue Hartman-Smith); Christopher L. Smith; Katheryn E. Smith Calvo (Jose Luis Calvo); Jonathan D. Smith; Alison I. Smith. Fourteen Great Grandchildren and eight Great-Great Grandchildren. While in Ohio, Alethea was a 4-H leader for several years, a member of the PTA and active in her Church. After moving to Florida, Alethea began bowling with several leagues and traveling with her husband throughout the US to participate in tournaments. In 1972, Alethea and her husband represented Lehigh in the Edison Festival of Lights Parade. Throughout her years as a Life-Long Member of Lehigh American Legion Post 323, Alethea held several offices. Lehigh Rebekah Lodge 75 presented her with her 50-year pin in 2010. Alethea was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lehigh joining the membership November 19, 1967. For First Presbyterians bi-centennial celebration in December 2013, Alethea was honored as one of their oldest living members. Alethea also enjoyed spending time with friends shopping and traveling with the Happiest Travelers attending museums, plays, and other entertainment activities. Alethea lived in Lehigh Acres for over 40 years witnessing growth and numerous development changes. On February 15, 2014, due to health reasons she relocated to Cape Coral, living with her daughter, Carrie. A Memorial Service is planned for Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at the Cape Coral Hope Hospice Chapel; 2430 Diplomat Parkway E., Cape Coral. For Aletheas long-time Lehigh church family and friends, a memorial is planned for May at the First Presbyterian Church, 60 Bell Blvd. Contact the Church after May 1 for date / time.
