Lehigh Regional Medical Center honored as top performer

November 25, 2015
By THOMAS W. MARSHALL , Lehigh Acres Citizen

There is a relationship between evidence-based treatments and better health outcomes.

Lehigh Regional Medical Center understands this relationship, and we are excelling at providing treatment for heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care and immunization.

As a result of our exemplary performance in providing these treatments to patients in 2014, we were recently named a top performer on key quality measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States.

We were one of only 1,043 hospitals, out of more than 3,300 eligible hospitals, in the nation to achieve the distinction.

Lehigh Regional was recognized for its achievement on the following accountability measure sets: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care and immunization.

This is the fourth year Lehigh Regional Medical Center has been recognized as a top performer, and we are especially proud that our hospital has received this honor once again.

Previously, we were recognized in 2010, 2011 and 2013 for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.

While hospitals such as Lehigh Regional are committed to improving performance, recognitions like this do not mean it is time to rest. We regularly review our performance to identify ways we can enhance the care and experience patients have at our hospital.

Our patients' safety is our top priority, and we thank Lehigh Acres for entrusting their care to us.

Thomas W. Marshall is the Chief Executive Officer for the Lehigh Regional Medical Center.
