Thompson chairman of LA-MSID board

By Staff | Feb 17, 2016

To the editor:

I was elected to the Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District (Lehigh Acres-MSID) Board of Commissioners in 2012 and now have the privilege of serving as chairman of the board.

Since 1986, Lehigh Acres has been my home and the headquarters for my law firm. During my time here, I have had the opportunity to see the community grow and change; to get involved in civic and volunteer opportunities; and to make a difference through my service on the publicly-elected Lehigh Acres MSID Board of Commissioners.

During my years on the board of commissioners, we have attained some wonderful accomplishments through hard work and ingenuity. It is a pleasure working with my fellow commissioners to effect change. We have signed agreements with Lee County and FDOT for their respective road widening projects, which provide for enhancements to Lehigh Acres-MSID’s stormwater system. This, in turn, provides necessary stormwater retention eliminating the need for roadside ponds and enhances our community design. Additionally, the agreements with FDOT provide funding for several of the district’s capital projects; these multi-county multi-year projects will provide lasting benefits for the community.

The Lehigh Acres-MSID Board of Commissioners work to build strong relationships with our state and local government agencies in order to continue to best serve our community. In 2016, we will see ground breaking for our new water control structure as part of the Homestead widening project and for the West Harns Marsh project.

I look forward to continuing to serve our community.

Ken Thompson
