Making America strong
To the editor:
As I read the many letters to the editor on how the writers would make America strong again and defend our freedoms through the eyes of their candidates, I often wonder how many of you writers and your candidates were available to serve this great nation during Christmas Past in time of peace or war. You have ideas on how to bring about this perfect Utopia in the United States, but many of you have never made the sacrifice in the protection our freedoms. Whatever happened to the saying, “… ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” I have heard the many excuses of why many could not serve.
So for those who fall into the above category that are afforded your freedom of speech, please do not be too harsh on my criticism of you. But, take this constructive criticism and look into the eyes of those heroes that carried the cross for your right to be free, and think about how you as a citizen of this nation can promote a newfound patriotism for all in the future by giving of yourselves instead of asking for yourselves.
