Ron Nolan is the Artist of the Month for June at the Arts of the Inland Gallery in the cafe at Lehigh Regional Medical Center, at 1500 Lee Blvd.

Kiwanis lists speakers

The Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club will host a breakfast meeting on June 22 at 7 a.m. in the Community Room at Hope Hospice, at 1201 Wings Way.

Diane Zigrossi, president of the Lehigh Acres Economic Development Board, will speak on "Lehigh Acres: A Look at the Past, A Vision of our Future"

The public is invited to attend.

Annual Taste of Lee Tropical Fruit Fair approaching fast

The annual Taste of Lee Tropical Fruit Fair will be held on June 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at City Gate Ministries, at 1735 Jackson St., Fort Myers.

A collaboration between the UF/IFAS Lee County Extension and Caloosa Rare Fruit Exchange, visitors will discover locally grown tropical fruits and vegetables.

An emphasis is placed on unusual fruits that many people have not seen or tasted.

Free tastings are provided.

Farmers will also bring their edibles for sale, including cheese, honey, herbs, fruits, and vegetables.

Fruit trees will also be for sale.

There will be free classes offered by experts in herbs, making teas, growing tropical fruits and trees, edible natives and more.

Hourly raffles are planned.

General admission is $2; children 12 and under are free.

Salute to Heroes concert set

Blackbird Anthem and Steve Smith will perform at the Salute to Heroes concert on July 2 at 3 p.m. at Buckingham Presbyterian Church, at 4241 Buckingham Road,

Blackbird Anthem performs original music led by frontman and HeroSong hero, Adam Martin. Martin is a veteran and former police officer.

Smith, a former firefighter, will perform original music dedicated to his father, a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Free, but donations are welcome.

Proceeds will benefit HeroSong, a non-profit that records original music for veterans, active military and first responders.

Community pool offers various classes

The Lehigh Acres Community Pool, at 1400 W. Fifth St., is heated and open year-round.

A wide range of swim lesson skill levels are offered, including adult beginners; all taught by American Red Cross Certified instructors.

Eight classes for $50.

Commit to get fit with aqua aerobics. Choose from a fast-paced workout at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday or the ultra-low impact class at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. Classes are 45 minutes long in chest deep water.

There are lifeguards-on-duty. Lap swimmers welcome.

Boot camps focus on fitness, nutrition

Healthy Harvest Community Farms, at 607 Mirror Lakes Drive, hosts the following boot camps:

- Mondays and Fridays from 6 to 7 p.m. at Williams Park

- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Veterans Park

- Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m and Saturdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Healthy Harvest Community Farms

The classes are free; donations are welcome. At least 10 people must be signed up for a class.

Farmer markets open

Farmers markets will be held:

- Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at JetBlue Park at Fenway South, at 11500 Fenway South Drive, Fort Myers

- Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lakes Regional Park, at 7300 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers.

Plant, tree sale planned

A plant sale will be held on the last Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon at Lakes Regional Park, at 7330 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers.

The selection includes succulents, small trees, native plants, herbs, annuals, bromeliads, rose bushes and more.

Master Gardeners will be available to answer any questions.

There is a $1 per hour parking fee, with a maximum of $5.

Lehigh Children's Choir rehearsing

The Lehigh Children's Choir rehearses from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays at Cayuga Music Studio, at 1100 Homestead Road.

The Lehigh Concert Band rehearses at 7 p.m. Tuesdays in the annex at Faith Lutheran Church, at 705 Leeland Blvd.

The group is always looking for musicians who want to perform.
