Vote-by-Mail ballots mailed on schedule in Lee

By Staff | Oct 7, 2016

The Lee County Supervisor of Elections Office mailed out 154,528 civilian-domestic vote-by-mail ballots on schedule Friday despite the bad weather.

The office asks voters to keep in mind that several United States Postal Service processing plants and distribution centers in Florida closed at noon Thursday due to Hurricane Matthew and will not reopen until 8 a.m. Saturday. Additionally, Monday, Oct. 10 is Columbus Day, a USPS holiday. For these reasons, voters may experience a delay in receiving their vote-by-mail ballots, elections officials said adding a reasonable wait time for Lee County voters to expect their ballots from the Friday mailing is Monday, Oct. 17.

There is still time to request to vote-by-mail. Voters may call 239-LEE-VOTE (239-533-8683), email requests tovotebymail@lee.vote or visit www.lee.vote. The last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Voted ballots must be physically returned (not just postmarked) to the Supervisor of Elections Office by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 8. Any vote-by-mail ballot delivered to Main Office after 7 p.m., Election Day will be accepted but cannot be tabulated.
