The Lehigh Regional Medical Center Auxiliary will host a fall and holiday fashion show on Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. in the cafe of the hospital, at 1500 Lee Blvd.

It will feature Draper’s and Damon’s, located in Fort Myers.

There will be door prizes and more, along with food and drinks.

Tickets are $10 each.

Garden Club to meet

The Garden Club of Lehigh Acres will meet on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Fountain Crest Retirement Community, at 1230 Taylor Lane.

The guest speaker is Stephen Brown, an extension agent for the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences. He will discuss common garden problems and pests for the area.

The monthly business meeting and plant auction will follow.

New members and guests are welcome; annual dues are $15 for singles and $25 for couples.

Class to focus on ideas for home gardeners

A gardening class will be held on Nov. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Hendry County Extension Office, at 1085 Pratt Blvd., Labelle.

The presenter will be Karen Harty, executive director of Grow A Gardener and a Lee County master gardener and composter.

She will discuss the lesser utilized, overlooked and new crop ideas for the home gardener for the fall, winter and spring locally.

Learn tricks for growing them, including their minimal maintenance requirements.

The $17 fee includes handouts and $20-plus in vegetable seeds.

Band launches new season

The Lee County Community Band will kick off its season with a concert on Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. in the Cape Coral High School auditorium, at 2300 Santa Barbara Blvd.

The performance will pay tribute to veterans of the U.S. Armed Services and showcase the works of American composers.

It is free and open to the public; donations will be accepted.

Future concert dates include Dec. 11, Jan. 22, Feb. 12, March 5 and April 2.

The band is comprised of residents from Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties. It welcomes new members every year.

There will be a silent auction, music and food, with an open bar.

The Calendar Girls will be on hand, with the proceeds to benefit those with breast cancer.

Farmers markets will be held:

– Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Centennial Park, at 201 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers

– Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Florida SouthWestern, at 8099 College Parkway, Fort Myers

– Saturdays from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cornog Plaza, at 2400-2438 First St., Fort Myers

– Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lakes Regional Park, at 7300 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers

Choir rehearsing

The Lehigh Children’s Choir rehearses from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays at Cayuga Music Studio, at 1100 Homestead Road.

Lehigh Concert Band practicing

The Lehigh Concert Band rehearses Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the annex at Faith Lutheran Church, at 705 Leeland Blvd.

It is always accepting new musicians who play at a senior high school, college level or above.

The band also offers a scholarship program to encourage young players to join.
