Ballot error due to data entry issue
On Oct. 27, the Lee County Supervisor of Elections acknowledged an error on the ballot for about 500 voters in the Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District.
The ballot design of the Nov. 8 ballot that affects these voters does not include the candidates running for office in the district.
The Elections Office contacted the mapping vendor, International Computer Works, to help investigate the cause of the error. The findings of the initial meeting were there was an “autocorrection” error in the software.
The Elections Office has continued a detailed investigative dialog with the vendor. The final determination for the cause showed that it was a manual data entry issue.
The Elections Office is reviewing its vendor’s recommendations to insure the issue will not reoccur.
