Kiwanis announces upcoming speakers

The Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club meets each week at 7:30 a.m. in the Community Room at Hope Hospice, at 1201 Wings Way.

Future speakers include:

- Today, Nov. 30: Jennie Vogelbach, public relations director of Special Olympics Coller County

Breakfast served at 7 a.m.

The public is invited to attend.

'White Christmas' a go

Broadway Palm is welcoming the holiday season with the heart-warming classic, Irving Berlin's "White Christmas," playing now through Dec. 25 at 1380 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers.

Performances are Tuesday through Sunday evenings with selected matinees.

Ticket prices range from $40 to $65, with discounts for children and groups of 20 or more.

'Another Night Before Christmas' playing

The Off Broadway Palm Theatre presents "Another Night Before Christmas" now through Dec. 25 in the main lobby of the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, at 1380 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers.

Performances are Tuesday through Sunday evenings with selected matinees.

Ticket prices range from $35 to $55, with group discounts available for parties of 20 or more.

Free vaccinations

The Florida Department of Health in Lee County will provide free vaccinations to the uninsured and underinsured on Dec. 7 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Lehigh Community Services, at 201 Plaza Drive.

There will be adult vaccines for ages 19 to 64, including flu shots, pneumonia and more.

Creative ARTs Market returns

The River District Alliance will host the Creative ARTs Market on Dec. 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Hendry Street, from Bay Street to Edwards Drive, in Fort Myers.

There will be a variety of vendors showcasing handicrafts, original and upcycled artwork, photography, gift items and more.

Admission is free.

Band launches season

The Lee County Community Band will kick off its season with a concert on Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. in the Cape Coral High School auditorium, at 2300 Santa Barbara Blvd.

It is free and open to the public; donations will be accepted.

Future concerts are set for Jan. 22, Feb. 12, March 5 and April 2.

The band is comprised of residents from Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties. It welcomes new members every year.

Lehigh Concert Band presents performances

The Lehigh Concert Band will perform the following concerts at 3 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, at 705 E. Leeland Heights Blvd.:

- Dec. 18

- Jan. 15

- Feb. 19

- March 19

All of the concerts are free, with donations accepted.

The Lehigh Concert Band is always accepting new musicians who play at a senior high school, college level or above.

The band also offers a scholarship program to encourage young players to join.

Pool offers classes

The Lehigh Acres Community Pool, at 1400 W. Fifth St., is heated and open year-round.

A range of swim lesson skill levels are offered, including adult beginners; all taught by American Red Cross Certified instructors.

Eight classes for $50.

Commit to get fit with aqua aerobics. Choose from a fast-paced workout at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday or the ultra-low impact class at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. Classes are 45 minutes long in chest deep water.

There are lifeguards-on-duty. Lap swimmers welcome.

Boot camps focus on fitness, nutrition

Healthy Harvest Community Farms, at 607 Mirror Lakes Drive, hosts the following boot camps:

- Mondays and Fridays from 6 to 7 p.m. at Williams Park

- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Veterans Park

- Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m and Saturdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Healthy Harvest Community Farms

The classes are free; donations are welcome. At least 10 people must be signed up for a class.

Plant, tree sale set

A plant sale will be held on the last Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon at Lakes Regional Park, at 7330 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers.

The selection includes succulents, small trees, native plants, herbs, annuals, bromeliads, rose bushes and more.

Master Gardeners will be available to answer any questions.

There is a $1 per hour parking fee, with a maximum of $5.

Farmers markets now open to the public

Farmers markets will be held:

- Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Centennial Park, at 201 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers

- Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Florida SouthWestern, at 8099 College Parkway, Fort Myers

- Saturdays from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cornog Plaza, at 2400-2438 First St., Fort Myers

- Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lakes Regional Park, at 7300 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers

Lehigh Children's Choir rehearsing

The Lehigh Children's Choir rehearses from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays at Cayuga Music Studio, at 1100 Homestead Road.
