Free vaccinations

The Florida Department of Health in Lee County will provide vaccinations to the uninsured and underinsured today, Dec. 7, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Lehigh Community Services, at 201 Plaza Drive.

There will be free adult vaccines for ages 19 to 64, including flu shots, pneumonia and more.

Virtual awareness run seeking participants

Public participation is being sought for virtual walkers in the First Annual Gulf Harbour Walk for aneurysm awareness.

Sponsored by the Lisa Colagrossi Foundation, it will also feature an online silent auction.

Creative ARTs Market returns

The River District Alliance will host the Creative ARTs Market on Dec. 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Hendry Street, from Bay Street to Edwards Drive, in Fort Myers.

There will be a variety of vendors showcasing handicrafts, original and upcycled artwork, photography, gift items and more.

Admission is free.

Breakfast with the Kringles scheduled

The Lee County Parks and Recreation Department will host Breakfast with the Kringles on Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Veterans Park Recreation Center, at 55 S. Homestead Road.

There will be a continental-style breakfast, holiday crafts, music and entertainment by the Susan Katz dancers, plus a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Kringle.

Entry is $5 per child and $3 for any adults eating breakfast.

Participation is limited to the first 100 children registered.

Band launches season

The Lee County Community Band will kick off its season with a concert on Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. in the Cape Coral High School auditorium, at 2300 Santa Barbara Blvd.

It is free and open to the public; donations will be accepted.

Future concerts are set for Jan. 22, Feb. 12, March 5 and April 2.

The band is comprised of residents from Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties. It welcomes new members every year.

Edible Gardening Exchange to meet

Edible Gardening Exchange will meet on Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the North Fort Myers Community Center, at 2000 N. Recreation Park Way, North Fort Myers; informal chat at 5:30 p.m.

The speaker is Sonja Suitor, a Master Gardener. She will talk about how to work in harmony with nature to have a thriving garden, while saving time and money.

Fee from October to May is $10, plus a one-time $10 Lee Parks and Recreation membership fee.

Bring a cup for free coffee and tea; also consider bringing something to share with the group.

General Woman's Club announces meeting

The General Woman's Club of Lehigh Acres will meet on Dec. 16 at noon in Sweatlock Hall at Faith Lutheran Church, at 705 E. Leeland Heights Blvd.

Children from the church's The Learning Village PreSchool will present a Christmas program with music and Mrs. Santa.

A Christmas luncheon will be provided by the members.

Holiday concert set

The Lehigh Concert Band, with special guest group the Brass Music Elements, will perform its holiday concert on Dec. 18 at 2:45 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, at 705 E. Leeland Heights Blvd.

The concert is free, however, donations will be accepted.

The band will be collecting non-perishable food donations for the Lehigh Community Services.

The Lehigh Concert Band is always accepting new musicians who play at a senior high school, college level or above.

The band also offers a scholarship program to encourage young players to join.

Tickets available for New Year's Eve dinner

The Knights of Columbus' Ladies Auxiliary will host a New Year's Eve dinner on Dec. 31 at the St. Raphael Catholic Church, at 2514 Lee Blvd.

A cocktail hour starts at 8 p.m., followed by dinner at 8:30 p.m. Dinner will include a roast beef or salmon entree, salad and dessert.

Event is BYOB.

Music will be provided.

There will also be a basket raffle and 50/50 drawing held.

Cost is $25 for individual tickets or $45 for a couple.

Pool offers classes

The Lehigh Acres Community Pool, at 1400 W. Fifth St., is heated and open year-round.

A range of swim lesson skill levels are offered, including adult beginners; all taught by American Red Cross Certified instructors.

Eight classes for $50.

Commit to get fit with aqua aerobics. Choose from a fast-paced workout at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday or the ultra-low impact class at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. Classes are 45 minutes long in chest deep water.

There are lifeguards-on-duty. Lap swimmers welcome.

Boot camps focus on fitness, nutrition

Healthy Harvest Community Farms, at 607 Mirror Lakes Drive, hosts the following boot camps:

- Mondays and Fridays from 6 to 7 p.m. at Williams Park

- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Veterans Park

- Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m and Saturdays from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Healthy Harvest Community Farms

The classes are free; donations are welcome. At least 10 people must be signed up for a class.

Plant, tree sale set

A plant sale will be held on the last Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon at Lakes Regional Park, at 7330 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers.

The selection includes succulents, small trees, native plants, herbs, annuals, bromeliads, rose bushes and more.

Master Gardeners will be available to answer any questions.

There is a $1 per hour parking fee, with a maximum of $5.

Farmers markets will be held:

- Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Centennial Park, at 201 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers

- Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Florida SouthWestern, at 8099 College Parkway, Fort Myers

Children's choir rehearsing

The Lehigh Children's Choir rehearses from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays at Cayuga Music Studio, at 1100 Homestead Road.
