LCSO honors students at awards ceremony

Humanitarian concern, honesty, integrity, positive decision making and heroism were recognized on May 18 during the Lee County Sheriff's Office's "Do The Right Thing" awards ceremony.

Each month throughout the school year, the LCSO will honor the positive actions of the community's students through the student recognition program. The goal is to reinforce positive behavior among youths and to establish students as role models for their peers.

The local students honored included:

- Jayni Patel, of Lehigh Acres, a fifth-grader at Littleton Elementary School

- Sonia Alvarez, of Lehigh Acres, a kindergartener at Tortuga Preserve Elementary School

- Nathaniel Cruz, of Lehigh Acres, a first-grader at Tortuga Preserve Elementary School

- Isaac Soto, of Lehigh Acres, a fifth-grader at Sunshine Elementary School

- Alaiza Rosado, of Lehigh Acres, a fifth-grader at Mirror Lakes Elementary School

- Sarah Silva, of Lehigh Acres, a fifth-grader at Mirror Lakes Elementary School

- Reina Banos, of Lehigh Acres, a fifth-grader at Mirror Lakes Elementary School

- Gareona Young, of Lehigh Acres, an eighth-grader at Harns Marsh Middle School

- Rodrigo Sanjuan, of Lehigh Acres, a 10th-grader at Lehigh Senior High School

- Brandon Yanczewski, of Lehigh Acres, a 10th-grader at Lehigh Senior High School

- Kailey Dvoroznak, of Fort Myers, a 12th-grader at Riverdale High School

- Nicole Shuman, of Fort Myers, a 12th-grader at Riverdale High School

- Jenna Zaleski, of Fort Myers, a 12th-grader at Riverdale High School
