An annual business showcase, along with a job fair, is planned this weekend in Lehigh Acres.

The Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce will host The Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Lehigh Acres Senior Citizens Center, at 219 Plaza Drive. The event serves as a resource for the community to meet local businesses, while job seekers can talk to employers who are currently hiring.

For the showcase, businesses reserve booth space to exhibit their business and market their products and services. A total of about 60 to 70 businesses can reserve booth space to take part in the event.

"It's a good time to meet and greet different businesses," Susan Kostyk, special event chair for the chamber, said. "This is a good time for people who are looking to establish themselves within the community to meet people that are involved in the chamber of commerce."

Insurance companies, real estate offices, salons, banks and more will be in attendance.

Those seeking employment will have the opportunity to meet with businesses looking to hire for season. Participants should bring their resume and dress appropriately for the job they are seeking.

"You will be meeting these business owners on a one-on-one," she said. "You're not going to their business, you're meeting them out and in kind of a neutral area."

There will be free classes on how to write a resume and how to build a professional website.

Other activities for the participants that will be offered are free rounds of golf at Mirror Lake Golf Course, as well as free face painting for the children. Healthy Harvest Community Farms will hand out free produce to the public that the farm grew, and Culver's Restaurant will hand out a value basket.

There will be raffles, with prizes given out every 30 minutes.

Free parking will be available at Florida Community Bank, adjacent from the center.

The chamber is accepting reservations for businesses looking to reserve booth space. The cost is $50 for chamber members or $85 for non-members. There is an electricity fee for $10, but it is available on a first come first serve basis.

"It's that one-on-one face-to-face communication that you get with people that is different from calling them on the phone and it not being personal," Kostyk said. "I think it's a lot of fun. Every year I meet people that I can help, which is a big thing for me."

For more information, contact the chamber at 239-369-3322 or info@LehighAcresChamber.org.

The Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce is at 25 Homestead Road N.
