Lehigh's precautionary boil water notice rescission issued

The Florida Governmental Utility Authority has issued a rescission of the precautionary boil water notice that was issued Sept. 12 to all customers in the Lehigh Acres service area.

Officials reported that repairs have been made to the FGUA system since Hurricane Irma and water samples have been taken to a Florida Department of Health-certified laboratory to ensure that the water meets Florida Department of Environmental Protection requirements.

All biological testing samples were negative, so the public may resume water usage as normal. The samples were analyzed and confirmed the drinking water is safe to drink.

"The FGUA apologizes for any inconvenience caused by Hurricane Irma and appreciates your patience while the FGUA worked to restore power and ensure that the water met with Florida Department of Environmental Protection guidelines," spokeswoman Donna Lizotte said.

All current outages and notices are available at: www.fgua.com/outages-and-notices.

Customers may also follow the FGUA on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/FGUAinfo. Customers with additional questions may contact the local Customer Service office at 239-368-1615.
