Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help generating leads regarding who may be responsible for a bomb threat at Riverdale High School last week.

Shortly after school ended on Oct. 23, staff noticed a threat in the girls' bathroom. The message was written in black marker on the sink in a handicap stall. Because there were still students and staff on campus for after-school activities, the threat forced a complete evacuation of the school until it could be determined that there were no out of the ordinary devices within the building.

Detectives are now looking for information on the person responsible for making the threat between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Oct. 23.

"Although the student who did this probably thought they were being funny, implying a bomb threat or other violence on campus is no joke," Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers coordinator, said. "This student cost taxpayers money to evacuate the school and ascertain that there was no imminent danger, and there will be a consequence for that action."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Tips may also be made online at or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.
