Pedestrian hit, killed by Lehigh driver identified

A pedestrian killed last week while trying to cross Interstate 75 has been identified.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the victim is David H. Youngblood Jr., 56, of Fort Myers.

At 8:02 p.m. Oct. 26, a Lincoln MKX was traveling northbound on I-75 in the outside lane, just north of Daniels Parkway. Youngblood, who was standing on the inside paved shoulder of I-75, began to cross all lanes of traffic. Youngblood entered the path of the SUV and the front of Lincoln struck him.

Both the SUV and Youngblood came to a final rest on the the outside paved shoulder.

The driver, Antonio Salazar, 63, of Lehigh Acres, was not injured.
