Lee County operations adjust schedules for Thanksgiving

Most Lee County administrative operations will be closed Nov. 23-24 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Other schedules will be adjusted, including Hurricane Irma debris pickup and public drop-off location hours.

The adjustments include:

Solid Waste

- Nov. 23: All county facilities are closed and no trash will be collected.

- Nov. 24: Thursday collections will be picked up. The Waste to Energy Facility in Buckingham will be open 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accept waste. All other Solid Waste facilities will be closed.

- Nov. 25: Friday collections will be picked up. The Buckingham facility will be open 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accept waste. All other Solid Waste facilities will be closed.

Hurricane Irma debris

Hurricane Irma debris collections by the county's debris hauler will be suspended Nov. 22-26.

Two public self drop-offs have now ceased operations and closed - the Lee Hendry Landfill and the Lee Civic Center.

The following public self drop-off horticultural sites remain open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with the exception of Thanksgiving Day:

- South Lee County: A&W Bulb site, at 14790 A&W Bulb Road, Fort Myers

- East Lee County: Lee County Mosquito Control, at 1840 Gunnery Road N.

- North Fort Myers: U.S. 41 site, at 17771 North Tamiami Trail, North Fort Myers

The county's three other horticultural self drop-off sites will close Nov. 22-26 and reopen at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 27. Visit www.leegov.com/Irma for locations.

Construction/demolition debris can be self-hauled to the Waste-to-Energy Facility, at 10500 Buckingham Road, Fort Myers, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 22 and 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 24-25.

LeeTran

- Nov. 23: No bus or Passport service.

- Nov. 24: Normal service resumes.

Parks & Recreation

- Nov. 23-24 and through the holiday weekend: Beaches, boat ramps, parks and preserves will be open.

- Administration offices, pools and recreation centers are closed Nov. 23-24. Recreation centers and pools resume normal operating hours Nov. 25. Administration offices resume normal operating hours Nov. 27.

Library System

- Nov. 22: Libraries close at 5 p.m.

- Nov. 23-24: All libraries will be closed.

- Nov. 25: Libraries open for regular hours.

Domestic Animal Services

- Nov. 23-24: The shelter at 5600 Banner Drive in South Fort Myers will be closed.

- Nov. 25: The Lost & Found Pet Center will reopen for regular hours at 8 a.m. and the adoption center will open at 10:30 a.m.
