School board recognized for leadership development

The Lee County School District board members and Superintendent Dr. Greg Adkins were honored for completing the Florida School Boards Association Master Board program at the 72nd Annual Joint Conference in Tampa.

The conference took place Nov. 28 to Dec. 1 and awards were presented by Carol Cook, Pinellas County School board member and FSBA leadership services consultant, and Shirley Owens, Holmes County School board member and FSBA leadership Services committee chair.

Lee County School District officials recently completed the FSBA’s Master Board program.

The training program is designed to strengthen each team's ability to work effectively, efficiently, and collectively as a governance team and to positively impact student achievement and school success.

FSBA's leadership development offerings are modeled to ensure each board member obtains a well-rounded and thorough understanding of his or her policy-making and oversight responsibilities.

Open enrollment information live on SDLC website

In preparation for the School District of Lee County's Student Assignment enrollment period, the district's website is live with up-to-date information on the process.

If your child is entering kindergarten, 6th or 9th grade, is new to the district, or is enrolled but wants to switch schools, then you will participate in open enrollment.

The application period runs from Jan. 22 to March 23.

This year there are some changes to the student assignment process, according to district officials.
