Lee County will complete Hurricane Irma debris collection on Dec. 21, except for tree stumps.

Tree stump removal will resume after the holiday break on Jan. 3. After Dec. 21, all residential horticulture should be placed at the curb in compliance with normal collection operations.

Some residential public drop-off sites remain open:

- Central Fort Myers site at Page Field, at 4551 S. Cleveland Ave., will close at 5 p.m. today, Dec. 15

- South Fort Myers site, at 14790 A&W Bulb Road, will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 22

- North Fort Myers, at 17771 N. Tamiami Trail, will close at 5 p.m. Jan. 8; the site will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day

- Lee County Mosquito Control District site, at 1840 Gunnery Road N., will close at 5 p.m. Jan. 8; the site will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day

Lee County's cleanup effort resulted in collecting more than 1.6 million cubic yards of horticulture and construction and demolition debris in three months.

The cost to clean up the debris is estimated at $36 million to $40 million in unincorporated Lee County and the Village of Estero, with anticipated partial reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
