Join American Legion Post 323 Memorial Day morning for a special service at Lee Memorial Park.

Sons of the American Legion Commander Christian Rapp said the service, which will pay tribute to veterans, will be held at the Lee Memorial Park Cemetery, 1277 State Road 82, beginning at 10 a.m. American Legion families and other veteran organizations will speak during the hour-long service.

Following the service, individuals are encouraged to congregate back at the American Legion for hamburgers, hot dogs, a bake sale and live music. The Legion, as well as the Boy Scouts, will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs from noon to 3 p.m.

The Auxiliary bake sale will also be held from noon to 3 p.m. with a grill raffle at 3 p.m. to benefit the Girls State program.

Rapp encourages the community to attend the inaugural Memorial Day weekend Horseshoe Tournament Sunday, May 27. Registration, which is $15 per player, begins at noon with the tournament following at 1 p.m.

The two person teams will have a blind draw. Partners will be drawn at 12:45 p.m. with a double elimination.

The event will also feature a 50/50 raffle, music, hamburgers, hot dogs and Italian sausage. There will also be a lobster raffle every hour.

Rapp said proceeds will benefit the Fisher House, which is housing for veteran families at the VA.

"We are open Saturday through Monday. Come see what we do here at the American Legion," Rapp said. "We try to have a big fundraiser and some more community awareness about the American Legion."

The Legion is at 1124 Ashlar Avenue. For more information, call (239) 369-3178.
