A family reunion

To the editor:

There has always been a difference to one degree or another between the two major Parties in this country. The differences were fairly small in nature but over the last 20 years or so that has changed.

The role of the Parties should have the best interests of the country as a goal instead of the furtherance of the Party itself. But that is not the case. This has never been more in evidence that the present state of the political war now plaguing our country.

No longer does the well-being of the United States be at the forefront of political discourse. We have instead a constant attack upon this Presidency for no good reason save for that of the Democratic Party trying to salve its wounds from the last election.

And now, in the far reaches of political reasoning we are blessed with the appearance of the new Left. They will ride in this political disaster and save the day for the American system!

This is evidenced by the plethora of candidates all seeking and promising to "Save us." And who will save us from them?

Political sanity is a most rare commodity today to be found in our halls of government. Extremism is hard at work to succeed. We must pray that it does not.

It is time for us, to take a deep breath, calm down, and compare where we are politically today from where we were politically 50 years ago. We would find that small distance between the two major Parties would at least be in the same family as opposed to being complete strangers.

Perhaps it is time for a political "family reunion." Our country deserves it.
