Law enforcement targeted Lehigh
To The Editor,
During the month of November 2008, Sheriff Mike Scott directed that Maj. Scott Ciresi and Capt. Dominick Ferrante of the Special Operations Bureau initiate a massive operation within Lehigh Acres to assist the Patrol Bureau and specifically Bravo District (Lehigh).
This included concerted efforts by narcotics detectives, gang units, anti crime units, traffic, fugitive warrants, intelligence unit and other components of the Operations Bureau.
This was an effort to attack crime within Lehigh Acres from a multifaceted format. Active warrants, drug sellers, street criminals, traffic violators, and gang members were targeted for removal from the streets.
This effort pulled resources from other areas of the county.
The below numbers represent the efforts that positively enhanced the law enforcement efforts of the deputies assigned to Lehigh Acres. The deputies and detectives assigned to Lehigh Acres also concentrated on the arrest of multiple burglars and juvenile delinquents. Because of this action, the district experienced a 9 percent decrease of burglaries during the first week of December.
