Latin America art exhibit at museum through Saturday

By Staff | Nov 25, 2008

A confluence of vibrant colors, strong emotions and lifelong experiences converge onto canvas during the 2nd annual Art Expressions of Latin America Art Exhibit now at the Southwest Florida Museum of History in downtown Fort Myers.

Fifteen artists from six countries add up to one great experience during this exhibit, said Matt Johnson, general manager of Southwest Florida Museum of History.

Recognizing the growth of the fastest emerging segment of the Southwest Florida population, this exhibit seeks to educate and share with visitors the themes central to Hispanic life and culture but also reflect those no matter the country of origin.

Dance, literature, home land, nature and expression of emotions will fill the museum exhibit hall through Nov. 29.

Showcasing the talents of artists in media such as oils, pastels and acrylics, visitors will be moved by topics, experiences and memories of another place and inspired by the influence of Latin values for American culture.

Like the Hispanic community whose lively and exciting presence in America is apparent, the museum is pleased to highlight this vibrant showcase of artwork by some of the premier Latin American artists now residing in Florida, Johnson said.
