Cape youth shot; hospitalized
A Cape Coral juvenile is in life-threatening condition at Cape Coral Hospital this afternoon after suffering a gunshot wound to the head, according to Cape Coral police spokesperson Connie Barron.
A male juvenile was shot in the head in the 2400 block of S.E. 28th Street, Barron said.
Police and K-9 units were canvassing the neighborhood while a forensics truck was parked at a home in the area this afternoon. Crime scene tape was set up around the home where the truck was parked.
Police had not revealed the victim’s identity as of 3 p.m. as the next of kin has not been notified, Barron said.
It is unclear if a suspect has been identified or if a weapon has been recovered.
No other information is being released by police due to the ongoing investigation, Barron said.
The Breeze will post updates as they become available.
