Calls for vote of community plan

To The Editor,

Lee County Commissioner Frank Mann said the people of Lehigh should have a right to vote on incorporation – so how come the people of Lehigh can not have a right to vote on a community plan?

Because the scam behind this plan is that after a couple of meetings of about 150 people, the county commissioners will declare as they create the first special taxing district, that we asked for it in approving the plan.

The only approval out of the 80,000 residents are 13 of the 14 member LACPC group which the Lee County commissioners rescinded their advisory status two years ago.

The hypocritical Lee Commission will not let Lehigh vote because the cost to Lehigh taxpayers will have to be brought out and the plan would be rejected.

To contradict what Commissioners Ray Judah, Frank Mann and Tammy Hall have been saying that the people of Lehigh approved the plan. They did not approve the plan because you did not let them vote on it.

Boone enjoyed trip to China

To the Editor,

Jessica Boone here, safe and sound from my trip to China and it was amazing. I wanted to extend my sincere appreciation for the wonderful article that you ran regarding my trip and fund-raising efforts that my family and I were undertaking to make this trip possible.

I would like to personally thank Page Mechanical Group who donated $1,000. I would also like to extend sincere appreciation to the Tice and Shores Moose Lodge. they were able to hold two separate fund-raising events and contributed a total of $750.23. I am also grateful to the following for their kind contributions: The Lovelands of Kansas, Eric of Ohio, Pavese Law Firm, Riverdale Dental Center, Barkley Dental Center, the Swifts of North Fort Myers, Ms. Lehnert and my family. I could not have done this without all of you.

I observed the difference in city life and village life while in Xi’am. I realized how true the Chinese are to their culture and how much it means to them. I was stunned to see how excited the people of China are to see foreigners – they were so swilling to take a picture for you, with you, try to speak with you … all of them were ready and willing to cater to our needs, because of the standards of their culture. I was challenged in our leadership group meetings to open my mind and think of ways energy could be used in China which will help their environment. I was in China the year the Summer Olympics were there and was able to feel the excitement everywhere I went.

I was able to have these experiences due to your generosity and I am so thankful for your help. I could not have gone to the other side of the world without your kindness and I am so grateful. I am now looking forward to attending the University Presidential inauguration Conference (UPIC) in January, where I will see the inauguration of the 44th President and attend the Inaugural Ball.
