A Cape Coral man was arrested and charged with burglarizing seven businesses in town, including a local seafood restaurant.
Dominic G. Amoroso, 37, was charged with 27 criminal charges by police and the State Attorney’s Office, including: eight counts of burglary of a structure; five counts of grand theft; five counts of possession of burglary tools; attempted burglary of a structure; two counts of criminal mischief $1,000 or more; three counts of petit theft; resisting an officer without violence; and two counts of criminal mischief more than $200.

Amoroso was on parole from state prison for burglary and grand theft charges when he was arrested Oct. 28 at 3 a.m., said police spokesperson Connie Barron.
Cape Coral Police Officer Christopher Clapp and police K-9 Dux apprehended Amoroso when he attempted to flee the Cape Seafood Shack, located at 603 Del Prado Boulevard S., where he had broken the storefront glass and taken a cash register, police said.
Police had set up surveillance at several local businesses, including the Cape Seafood Shack, after a number of burglaries were reported in the city, Barron said.
Amoroso fled from officers and threw the cash register near a Dumpster, but was apprehended behind a building pillar at 602 S.E. 16th Place, Barron said.
The State Attorney’s Office charged Amoroso with 21 felony counts after an investigation by CCPD detective Todd Kerns.
Amoroso remained in the Lee County Jail without bond Friday evening, according to jail booking records.
Records indicate that in April 2000, Lee County Sheriff’s deputies booked Amoroso on charges of petit theft, grand theft, burglary of a structure and burglary of a business. He was moved from the Lee County Jail to a state prison in 2001, jail records show.
Amoroso has been convicted of various theft and burglary charges in Lee County since 1991, court records indicate.
