Shark advisory issued for Blind Pass

By Staff | Dec 22, 2008

The city of Sanibel has been informed by Lee County Division of Natural Resources that the Blind Pass dredging project is attracting sharks.
Project Manager Robert Neal, P.E., has told Sanibel officials that this is common for beach projects around dawn and dusk of each day and that this project is more likely to attract sharks since material is being placed directly in the nearshore.
Neal is attempting to have appropriate warning signage in place in early January 2009.
Beach goers are encouraged to use caution in and around the water at Blind Pass.
