Tutor training set for February in Lehigh
Volunteer tutors are needed in Lehigh Acres to teach English-speaking adults to read and write, according to Literacy Volunteers of Lee County (LVLC).
“There are adults in our community who cannot read and write above a third-grade level,” said Tess Murphy, LVLC executive director. She added that tutors will be trained to help these adults improve their literacy level.
Adults (over the age of 18) who can commit at least one hour a week for a minimum of a year are invited to attend an 8-hour tutor-training workshop on Saturday, February 7. The training will be in Lehigh Acres at the Literacy Volunteers Office, 9 Beth Stacey Blvd., Suite 303.
The training is free; $30 is requested to cover the cost of the materials. Contact LVLC at 239-368-1002 for a registration packet.
LVLC, a United Way partner agency, is an affiliate of ProLiteracy America.
