Land to hold benefit for honorary mayor Mary Lou Land, a resident of Lehigh Acres for the past 30 years, and an employee at Majestic Golf Club where she is beverage manager and activities director will hold a benefit car, truck and motorcycle show on Jan. 24 at Majestic Golf Club at 350 Homestead Rd. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. so she can become honorary mayor of Lehigh.
The money is going to help raise money for Lehigh Community Services and Hope Hospice. She signed up to run for honorary mayor last week. For more information or to make a donation call her at 565-8783.
Kreegel aide to be in Lehigh next month
Rep. Paige V. Kreegel, who represents District 72, will have a representative from his office in Lehigh Acres on Thursday, Feb. 12 and Thursday, Feb. 26 to discuss any issues or state-related problems the citizens of Lehigh may have. The hours will be from 9 a.m to 10 a.m. at the East County Regional Library at 881 Gunnery Rd. For more information, call Cynthia Beckett at 941-575-5820. The aide had been scheduled to be here on Jan. 22 but it was canceled due to a conflict with the Lee County Delegation meeting held in Fort Myers.
‘Yappy Yard Sale’ set for Jan. 24
The Lee County Animal Care Trust Fund will hold its first Annual Yappy Yard Sale on On Saturday January 24, from 8 a.m. until noon.The event will take place at Lee County Animal Services shelter at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers, next to the Lee County Sheriff’s Dept. off Six Mile Cypress Parkway.
“If you love animals and love yard sales, this is an event you won’t want to miss,” said Christina Crawfis, president of the Animal Care Trust Fund. “We will have a large variety of items for sale both pet-related and not pet related so there’s something for everyone.”
Proceeds will benefit the Trust Fund which supports low-cost spay neuter programs, assistance for homeless pets in Lee County, particularly those that are sick, injured or victims of cruelty. The Trust also promotes adoptions events for homeless animals and programs for disadvantages pet owners.
In addition to the shopping opportunities, dog trainers will be available at the event to discuss pet behavior problems with attendees. Vendors and other animal rescue organizations are also invited to participate and sell items to support their causes. Lehigh Singers prepare for March concert
The Lehigh Singers’ Spring Concert will be held March 15 and will include music from around the world, according to Candace Sundby, music director and principal conductor.
Rehearsals began Jan. 5 at East Lee County High School on Thomas Sherwin Ave., off of Milwaukee Blvd.
Sundby said that everyone who likes to sing is invited to join the group. Additional rehearsal dates are as follows: Jan. 26, Feb. 2, 8, 16, 23, March 2, 9, 14. The concert is the next evening.
