Looking for answers regarding race issues

By Staff | Jan 26, 2009

To The Editor,

There is, and always will be, prejudice of some sort in our lives. This trait is present in the minds of all humans. The most prejudice trait, the one most talked about, is racial.

It is the most damaging trait in today’s society. Many of us think it is not present in our mind, but it is there. I my-self believe all humans are the same regardless of the color of their skin. If some one truly loves another, they should be together regardless of their race.

Yet, I would be the first to say, I would not want my off-spring to marry out-side of our race. Why is this? I honestly do not know.

I want nothing but happiness and the best for my off-spring. If they find this happiness with some one of a different race, I should be overjoyed. I am not.

I am ashamed of my self, but that prejudice is there. I won’t go into the philosophy of this trait. There are thousands of people doing this, at a large hourly rate, and they can’t come up with the answer. I am a simple man and therefore think in simple terms.

I think we, of the caucasian race, should stop trying to make those of other races, into caucasians. They don’t want to be white, they just want the same opportunity and privileges that is available to those with white skin.

The African American is a noble race, and has a history of greatness. They should teach their off-spring this history. At the same time, don’t blame me for all the repugnant dissent that happened years ago.

I was not there, and had nothing to do with it. Great accomplishments have been made toward the ratification of this dissent. After all, we have an African American who is our President.

But this is not enough. We still have to deal with that underlying cancer that flourishes in the mind of all of us. There must be a simple answer, but I don’t have it.
