‘Evening with the Red Sox’ set for Feb. 26
The fourth annual Evening with the Red Sox, with all proceeds benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Fort Myers.
The Evening with the Red Sox is open to the public and will include a live auction featuring four tickets to a 2009 Red Sox vs. Yankee game weekend with tickets on the “Green Monster” and on field experience at Fenway Park.
A silent auction also will be held, including Red Sox memorabilia, regular season game packages, vacation packages, local golf and restaurant experiences and many more popular items.
Last year’s attendees included pitchers Manny Delcarmen and Justin Masterson, infielder Jed Lowrie and Mike Dee, chief operating officer of the Boston Red Sox, who is this year’s dinner guest speaker.
This year’s Red Sox attendance is expected to surpass last year’s with a variety of players and team representatives.
“Last year’s event helped raise over $50,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County and despite the economy, our goal is $70,000 for this year,” said Jim Larkin, general manager of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Fort Myers.
“We’re really looking forward to a fun evening and helping a good cause,” he said.
Sponsorships are still available and tickets are $100 per person or $175 per couple. Contact Lynn Dorler at (239) 334-1886 or at ldorler@bgclc.net for more details or purchasing.
