Estates Open at Night beginning January 31

For the first time, the Edison & Ford Winter Estates will be open at night beginning January 31. The new nighttime program is called Night Lights to celebrate the inventor Thomas Edison, his birthday in February and Fort Myers month long lighted celebration called the Edison Festival of Light.

Night Lights is Thursday, Friday, Saturdays and Sunday nights beginning

January 31 and ending February 28h (January 31, February 1, 5, 6, 7,

8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27 and 28). Tickets will

continue to be sold until 7 p.m. and the last guided tour will depart at 6

p.m., said Lisa Sbuttoni, a spokeswoman for the Estates. Regular ticket prices is $20 for adults, $11 children ages 6 – 12.

Estates Members are admitted free. There are special group discounts

available for groups who reserve in advance.

The site has completed nearly $10 million in restoration and

improvements with special buildings and garden areas open for the first

time, winning the 2009 National Historic Trust for Preservation Award

for Excellence in Stewardship, Sbuttoni said.

The Edison & Ford Winter Estates is open regularly every day throughout

the year until 5:30 p.m.; and in the evening for special events and projects,

like Night Lights in February. For more information call the
