Motorcyclist dies as a result of crash
Cape Coral recorded its first traffic fatality of 2009 on Saturday when a 19-year-old youth on a borrowed motorcycle crashed into a utility pole.
Nicholas T. Trunck, 212 Chiquita Boulevard North, crashed at 10:06 p.m. while riding a 2008 Honda motorcycle in the alley behind 2128 Santa Barbara Boulevard.
Trunck had asked the owner of the motorcycle, Sean Frazee, if he could ride the Honda around the block. Frazee, 20, of 1213 S.W. 15th Street, gave him permission, and Trunck rode the motorcycle north in the alleyway behind Hustler’s Pool Hall, officials said.
After traveling about 200 feet, Trunck lost control and struck the wooden utility pole head on. He was ejected from the motorcycle and trauma-alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital.
He died of his injuries a short time later.
The investigation into the crash is continuing.
In 2008, Cape Coral recorded 15 traffic fatalities.
