Ann Callahan

Ann Callahan, 90, of Lehigh Acres, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Southwest Regional Hospital in Fort Myers.

Born February 12, 1918 in Glace Bay, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada, she was the daughter of William Severin Aucoin and Amelia Connington Aucoin. Her family moved to Massachusetts in 1927. She was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School.

One daughter, Barbara Harding, and six grandchildren, Daniel Harding, Kelley Callaghan, Patrick Harding, Brian Harding, Dennis Harding, and Kevin Harding survive her. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Caitlin Callaghan, Conor Callaghan, Cullen Callaghan, Brendan Harding, Jane Harding, Alana Harding and Stella Harding.

Callahan spent time as administrator of the Boston Speech School for Crippled Children, was a business owner for many years in Miami Beach, and finished her working career as a bank teller. She retired and lived in Michigan for 20 years, and moved to Florida in 2004.

There will be a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, February 10, at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 2628 Del Prado Boulevard, Cape Coral, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations be made to Lee County Special Olympics, 3410 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33916, in memory of Ann Callahan, grandmother of Brian Harding.
