Couple robbed at gunpoint at Lehigh intersection

Lehigh Acres residents should stay alert and know what is around them, said law enforcement personnel today after having reported a robbery on Feb. 2 when a couple said they were sopped at a stop sign at Williams Ave. and West 14th St. in Lehigh.

They told Lehigh Sheriff’s investigators that a man approached their car and at the window, he pointed a gun at them and told them to give up all their belongings.

Christine Mackie, 43, told investigators that she and her husband handed over their wedding rings, watches and some cash. They said the robber ran toward a dark-colored sedan that was parked in a

grassy area facing away from Williams Ave. According to the Sheriff’s report, he got into the car and it raced away from the scene.

The suspect is a dark-skinned man, about five feet, eight inches tall with a long black dreadlocks or braids and is around 35 years old. He was described as weighing around 190 pounds and was wearing a red pullover top and dark pants.
