Mina Edison statue is unveiled
The Edison & Ford Winter Estates celebrated the unveiling of a statue of Mina Edison created by artist D.J. Wilkins and donated by Orvall McCleary.
A dedication ceremony was to be held on February 11 at 10 a.m., to unveil the full figure statue. The unveiling ceremony is free to the public.
The statue is cast in composite aluminum. She is “heroic size” (25 percent larger than life) and was made from a unique cast from an original clay model, Estates officials say.
The statue will be located in the public garden area of the Edison Estates, named the Estates Heritage Garden in memory of the heirloom and heritage gardens of Thomas and Mina Edison.
The Edison & Ford Winter Estates is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and special extended hours until 8 p.m. on Thursday Sunday evenings through February 28.
