‘All Shook Up’ Elvis show coming to Broadway Palm

By Staff | Feb 17, 2009

Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre heats up the season with the sizzling and energetic Southwest Florida premiere of the new musical comedy All Shook Up, playing February 19 through April 11, 2009.

It’s Footloose, Grease and Happy Days all rolled into one zany story, says Susan Johnson, the theatre’s manager.

This hip-swiveling musical is inspired by the songs of Elvis Presley and contains over 24 Elvis hits, she said. The book is by Joe DiPietro, who also wrote the hit I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.

The story takes place in 1955, in a square little town in the middle of a square little state.

Reminiscent of Roustabout starring Elvis, a young mechanic named Natalie dreams of escaping her quiet Midwestern life.

When a tall, handsome motor-cycling stranger with blue-suede shoes and a guitar strapped to his back rides into town in search of a mechanic, Natalie’s whole life changes.

She falls instantly in love with the new stranger, but he won’t give her the time of day. Natalie disguises herself as “one of the guys” to get closer to him. Mistaken identities and outlandish who-loves-who mix-ups ensue and the town suddenly bursts to life and creates a feel-good story of crazy love triangles with laugh-out-loud comedy. All Shook Up is packed with over two dozen Elvis Presley songs such as Jailhouse Rock, Blue Suede Shoes, A Little Less Conversation, Devil in Disguise, Love Me Tender, Don’t Be Cruel, Can’t Help Falling in Love and Heartbreak Hotel.

Performances are Tuesday through Sunday evenings with selected matinees. Ticket prices range from $25 to $53 with group discounts available for parties of 20 or more.

Tickets are now on sale and can be reserved by calling (239) 278-4422, by visiting www.BroadwayPalm.com, or by stopping by the box office at 1380 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.
