An escapee from the DeSoto County Jail was apprehended in south Punta Gorda today.
Jorge Emelio Delgado stole a pickup in a home invasion this morning and it was located in a shopping center parking lot at 1:40 p.m., Charlotte County officials said.
CCSO K-9 was tracking the escapee, who had headed south, and Delgado was stopped by an FWC officer and handcuffed on Burnt Store Road at 2:05 p.m. The area is south of where the truck had been abandoned in the Colonial Promenades shopping center parking lot by Burnt Store Café and Home Depot.
Delgado was taken to the Charlotte County Jail on an Out-of-County Warrant for Escape from Desoto County.
Delgado will face first appearance Wednesday morning, however, it is not known at this time when he will be transported back to DeSoto County, Charlotte County officials said.
