Indoor yard sale will be March 7 at Elks

The Ladies of the Elks will hold an indoor yard sale on March 7. The Elks Lodge is located at 1050 Joel Blvd in Lehigh. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a bake sale and something for everyone, said Jeanette Vesper, a spokeswoman handling publicity.

Also included will be clothing, jewelry, tools, CDs, furniture and more. Proceeds will benefit community projects and scholarships for students.

Pirohi Dinner set for Feb. 21

All Saints Catholic Church will have its Pirohi Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 3 to 7 p.m. Featured will be Pirohi, stuffed cabbage, vegetables and a dessert of your choice with coffee or tea for $9 per dinner. The church is located on Bayshore Rd., Exit 143 east of I-75, one and a quarter mile and west of the Lee Civic Center, said Mariann Gaydos, of Lehigh Acres, chairman of the dinner.

Health Fair set in Lehigh on March 3

Presbyterian Homes of Lehigh Acres at 1301 Woodward Court will hold a health fair on March 3. It is being sponsored by Southwest Florida Home Care and Presbyterian Homes of South Florida.

It is free to the public. There will be more than 35 healthcare and resource vendors presenting information. Vendors include physicians, hearing and vision, home health, safety, medical equipment, pharmacy, assisted living facilities, and community resources. The Presbyterian Homes Residents’ Association will offer food and drinks for a nominal fee, said Rene Forbes, a nurse and physician liaison.

Alva Garden Club sponsoring tour on Feb. 21

The Alva Garden Club invites the public to attend the 100th anniversary party of the Alva Library, the first library in all of Southwest Florida. It will be held Feb. 21 from noon to 4 p.m. in Alva.

Free tours of the Alva Museum, the Alva United Methodist Church, circa 1903, and the century-old Philbert Reed House will be offered.

It will be at the Alva Museum, where the library was originally housed, at 21420 East Pearl St. in Alva.

You can register you space now at the Alva Community Yard sale, says Sandra Bates, senior parks and recreational program specialist.

“This is a great way to sell your stuff, without having to bring people to your house. Clean out your closet, garages, and homes and turn your junk into another’s treasure.

“Take advantage of the crowds that a community flea market can generate,” Bates said.

Kreegel aide to be in Lehigh on Feb. 26

Rep. Paige V. Kreegel, who represents District 72, will have a representative from his office in Lehigh Acres on Thursday, Feb. 26 to discuss any issues or state-related problems the citizens of Lehigh may have. The hours will be from 9 a.m to 10 a.m. at the East County Regional Library at 881 Gunnery Rd. For more information, call Cynthia Beckett at 941-575-5820. The aide had been scheduled to be here on Jan. 22 but it was canceled due to a conflict with the Lee County Delegation meeting held in Fort Myers.

Lehigh Singers prepare for March concert

The Lehigh Singers’ Spring Concert will be held March 15 and will include music from around the world, according to Candace Sundby, music director and principal conductor.

Rehearsals began Jan. 5 at East Lee County High School on Thomas Sherwin Ave., off of Milwaukee Blvd.

Sundby said that everyone who likes to sing is invited to join the group. Additional rehearsal dates are as follows: Feb. 23, March 2, 9, 14. The concert is the next evening.
