I-75 traffic warning; beams to be delivered overnight
As part of its on-going project to construct the Estero Parkway Extension over Interstate 75, Lee County’s contractor ZEP Construction is expecting delivery overnight of the first of several large steel beams, said David Loveland, a spokesman with the Lee County Dept. of Transportation.
The first beam will be coming from Tampa via the expected route of SR 60, US 17 and I-75, and will slow southbound traffic on Interstate 75 beginning at US 17 in Charlotte County to Alico Road in Lee County, Loveland said.
The truck delivering the beam will exit the interstate westbound at Alico Road, turn left and go south down Three Oaks Parkway, and turn left into the Estero Parkway Extension project. The delivery is expected to impact traffic on the roads within Lee County generally between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. Friday. The delivery will be accompanied by significant police presence, Loveland said.
Information about future beam deliveries and installations, which will involve some road closures including the interstate, will be forthcoming, he said
Loveland went on to say that motorists should exercise extreme caution if they are on the affected roads in the early mornings hours and use alternate routes if possible.
