‘Cape Movie Magic’ today at Cultural Park
The Gulf Coast Symphony and the Southwest Florida Business Alliance have teamed up to bring the inaugural “Cape Movie Magic” to Cape Coral today, Feb. 28. The free, outdoor event will be held at Cultural Park on Cultural Park Boulevard.
The day-long event will focus on orchestral arrangements from some of the biggest and most popular motion pictures of all time, including “Lord of the Rings,” “Indiana Jones,” “Harry Potter,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Schindler’s List” and “Star Wars.”
And while the symphony performance is the highlight of the event, other activities and musical entertainment will be featured as well.
Beginning at 11 a.m., the Gulf Coast Symphony will kick-off festivities with a two-hour rehearsal, followed by performances by Mariner, Cape Coral, Ida Baker high school musical groups. Then, the symphony will take the stage again at 5 p.m. for a full concert, including intermission.
Caira Everly will sing the national anthem. Throughout the afternoon costumed characters will stroll the grounds and there will be games for the kids and vendor booths.
Paid on-site parking is available for the first 500 cars, with nearby limited off-site parking at Cape Coral City Hall and Sun Splash Family Waterpark with free shuttle service.
This free event will accommodate the first 6,000 people, with concert proceeds benefitting Cape student education proceeds.
Food and drinks will be available on site and coolers will be allowed with strict adherence to Cape Coral park rules.
