Search is on for suspects in armed home invasion
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office today said that at on March 1, at around 4:45 p.m., authorities received a 911 call reporting an armed home invasion at 4250 Perth Court, North Fort Myers. Upon arrival, deputies met with the two victims, who are owners of the Ortiz Flea Market.
The victims told deputies they had just returned home from the business and were in the process of unloading their vehicle when a red Mustang pulled into their driveway at a high rate of speed.
Two male jumped out of the vehicle and approached the victims. The suspects threw the victims to the ground. At this point, one of the suspects removed a white ceramic Chanel J12 double diamond bezel watch from the wrist of one of the victims, authorities said. The watch is valued at approximately $33,000, investigators said.
After ransacking several rooms in the residence, the suspects took a cardboard bank box containing an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects then fled the area in their vehicle.
The suspects are described as possibly Hispanic and were wearing blue and white bandanas over their faces with eye holes cut out. Both suspects were armed with handguns. Their vehicle is described as a late 1980s Mustang with a new “candy apple red” paint job, aftermarket rear spoiler, oversized chrome rims (larger rims on the rear tires) and modified exhaust, investigators said.
