12th annual Boston Red Sox Children’s Hospital Diamond Dinner to benefit kids

By Staff | Mar 9, 2009

Boston Red Sox players, managers and front office staff will enjoy a meal with community members Tuesday when the 12th annual Boston Red Sox Children’s Hospital Diamond Dinner kicks off on the field at City of Palms Park.
As part of a long-term partnership with the Boston Red Sox, each year the Lee Memorial Health System Foundation hosts members of the community for a dinner right on the field at City of Palms Park.
This year’s event is sold out.
Outback Steakhouse is providing the meal, which will be preceded by a silent auction and an interactive Q &A panel with Boston Red Sox players and managers. The silent auction features restaurant gift certificates, tickets to upcoming sporting events and one of-a-kind autographed memorabilia from Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Jonathan Paplebon, Tom Brady and other past and present sports heroes.
All proceeds from the event are matched dollar for dollar by a generous philanthropist and will be directed toward an eight-bed expansion of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.
This year’s dinner is set for March 10 from 6-8 p.m.
