‘ARK OF THE COVENANT’ FEATURED AT MUSEUM

The alternative history exhibit that asks the question, “What if there’s a story behind the story?” will now be complete as its showcase piece, the Ark of the Covenant is featured at the Southwest Florida Museum of History.

The Ark of the Covenant is faithfully replicated to the dimensions as described in the Bible; 2.5 cubits long, by 1.5 cubits wide, by 1.5 cubits high. Originally constructed of acacia wood and plated entirely in gold, in Exodus God commanded that an ark be built to house the stone tablets bearing the 10 Commandments, said marketing manager Helena Finnegan. The Ark’s location has been the stuff of legend and movies over the years but its reproduction can now be seen at the museum.

From now thru June 20, visitors to the museum have the opportunity to discover for themselves the mysteries behind more than 30 stories that have been the stuff of legends, myths, conspiracy theories and movies, Finnegan said.
