Ida Baker takes win over Cypress Lake

Sami Fisher and Christie Larrimore both slugged two-run doubles to spark Ida Baker to a 14-2 five-inning victory over Cypress Lake Thursday night.

Caitlin Holloway contributed three singles in three at-bats resulting in three RBI. Fisher also drove in run with a sacrifice fly.

Tara Sozio pitched three innings, striking out 6, to earn her first win of the season.

The Bulldogs (7-3) host Lehigh Friday night.

Bishop Verot 5, Estero 1: Bishop Verot had too many Baracco sisters for Estero to overcome as the Vikings prevailed.

Hailey Baracco, a senior, had a pair of hits including a double and pitched seven innings of four-hit ball, striking out nine to lead the Vikings. Sophomore Talia Baracco doubled and drove in three runs while Katie Clinger had a hit, a stolen base and scored twice.

The Vikings (9-3) play at Frostproof Friday.

Girls Lacrosse

Riverdale 14, Cape Coral 12: Jamie Whetsell tallied seven goals to lead Cape Coral, but it was not enough as the Seahawks lost at Riverdale

Alex Gibson and Carly Boscarino each added two goals and Chloe Hutchins added one. Goalie Tara Murza made 18 saves.

The Seahawks (3-4) host Canterbury at 6 p.m. Friday.

Barron Collier 11, Cape Coral 1: Zach Tillery homered and Brian Alexander pitched a four-hitter as the visiting Cougars defeated Cape Coral (1-8) in six innings.

The Seahawks host Miami Coral Reef Friday.

Fort Myers 7 North Fort Myers 1: Brendan Collins smacked a home run, one of four extra-base hits for the Green Wave in their victory at North Fort Myers.

Chase Vogelbach had an RBI double for the Red Knights (4-5), who play at Mariner Friday.

Cypress Lake 9, Ida Baker 4: Miles Rubinski and Mike Gulotta each had doubles but host Baker fell to Cypress Lake for the second time this season.

Fort Myers 7, Mariner 0: Mariner had no answer to the dominant play of Fort Myers in a straight-set defeat at the hands of the Green Wave Thursday.

The Tritons (3-3) will try to get back on the winning track Tuesday when they host Cypress Lake.
