North Fort Myers High School band supporters are asking members of the community to come out and support a fun, fund-raising event set for March 21.
The bands and boosters will host a Flea Market and Craft Fair in the parking lot of the Coral Gate Commons plaza on southwest corner of Pondella Road and Orange Grove Boulevard. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“It’s for all of the bands, which includes the Marching Red Knights, the Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble and Concert Band,” said fund-raising coordinator Kim Checolo. Her daughter, Alex Pizza, plays the piccolo and flute in the marching band and wind ensemble.
“There will be craft tables with jewelry, lots of yard sale tables and small businesses are also coming over with displays on their services,” she said. “We’re also having food, our own concessions, all types of things like hot dogs, snacks and sodas.”
Checolo said the event is particularly important this year.
“It’s been a very tough year for us raising funds in this economy,” she said. “This cause is important because they are a great group of kids, and this is their passion. They love their music, and they would love to have everybody to come out and support them.”
Vendors are still being welcomed.
“We’ll take people up to the day of the event,” she said.
Concerning vendors, the spots are $25 per space, about 20 x 20, two 5 x 5 parking spaces.
