By Staff | Mar 14, 2009

Lee County Sheriff’s investigators sealed off an area in North Fort Myers on Saturday after human remains were found in a wooded area near the intersection of Birkdale Ave. and Littlestone Court on Friday afternoon.

According to reports, a pet cat wandered into the wooded area and a woman went into the woods to get the pet when the remains were discovered.

Marian Medero came upon the remains. She said the body was decomposed and appeared to have been overcome by animals. She waid there was a backpack near the scene. A witness said the remains appeared to have been there for a period of time and said parts of the body may have been dismembered.

More details will come from the Sheriff’s Office when they are available.
