Dinner proceeds to help keep Lehigh food kitchen from closing
You can help to keep the food kitchen in Lehigh Acres known as Our Daily Bread open by attending a dinner at the church where the food kitchen is located.
The Injury Attorneys and Christ United Methodist Church in Lehigh Acres
will serve a chicken dinner Saturday to raise money to help to feed families in need in the Lehigh Acres community and raise money for the church’s feeding ministry.
It will be at Christ United Methodist Church, 1430 Homestead Road North in Lehigh on Saturday, April 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu of chicken, mashed potatoes and another vegetable will cost you $5.
At midday Friday, more than 75 tickets had been sold and a church spokeswoman said they planned on a meal to feed 100 people.
A spokeswoman with the church said that in these difficult economic times it is important that we come together to help the less fortunate and those in need, particularly the families in Lehigh Acres.
This dinner, through ticket sales and donations, will help raise proceeds for the “Daily Bread Feeding Ministry”, a weekly program at the church that feeds individuals and families on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
A story in The Citizen a few weeks ago reported that the church had to cut back from serving the noon time meal from five days a week to three days a week because of the lack of money to pay for the food.
