Mack votes against new budget
Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14), a member of the House Budget Committee, today said the budget passed by the House of Representatives not only condemns the nation to even greater spending and greater taxes, but further changes the role of government in the lives of every American.
“The lessons of history are clear: when government spends more, taxes more, and regulates more, opportunities are limited; hope fades; and a great malaise stifles the land.
“But when our government spends less and taxes less; when government promotes freedom and creates opportunities for growth and accomplishment; that is when America is at its very best,” Mack said.
“The core of the debate about the nation’s budget isn’t just about the nearly $4 trillion that the Democrats are spending. It’s about the relationship between the American people and their government.”
He asked if the country was going to have a limited government that respects freedom and free markets and that fosters opportunities for people to achieve their American Dream or will the country have a strong central government that consumes more and more resources, dictates how individuals behave and what they do, decides how entrepreneurs start and run businesses, and determines how families spend, save, and invest.
He called the Democrats’ budget outrageous.
